I have been flying the production version as well as my prototype for for sometime now and this little heli is just perfect for the back yard flyer...or front yard in my case....

This photo shows the 6S 2200 setup (far Heli) with two of the 3S 2200 packs and the closer heli has the single 5S 3300. Note the ESC locations. I currently like the 5S setup better.

Some Q and A's about the Trex 500 from some recent email questions I received.

Q: What batteries do you use and how much flight time are you getting?
A: For me the Thunder Power 5S 3300 runs for 7 minutes the 6S 2200 is good for 5 minutes max.

Q: What size are the main blades? I heard they are not 500mm so why is this helicopter called a 500?
A: The blades are 425mm...500 is a reference to the motor size....it is a little confusing.

Q: What cyclic servos are you using or do you recommend? I saw a photo from Taiwan and it looked like you had 9257's do those have enough torque?
A: I am currently using the Futaba 9257's and yes they seem to have plenty of torque plus the speed is great, however the 9650 also works well and has a bit more power.

Q: When will the 500 be available to the public?
A: Anytime now hopefully before the holidays. Like any new popular product they may be a little hard to come by for the first couple of months.

Q: Did you design and test the 500 yourself and is the 500 just scaled down from the 600 or up from the 450?
A: Yes I did the design and I was part of the testing crew. The 500 is not scaled from any of the other Align models although it has some similarities to both the 450 and 600, it is a new design.

Q: How much will the 500 cost?
A: There will be a carbon version and a G-10 version I'm not sure what the price will be....but I'm certain it will be very reasonable like the other Align products.

Q: Will the 500 have a torque tube or belt?
A: It will come with a belt and I am working on the torque tube upgrade.
